Space Shuttle Atlantis Transition & Retirement : The transition and retirement processing of Space Shuttle Atlantis at Kennedy Space Center. Atlantis, designated by NASA as OV-104, or Orbiter Vehicle 104, will be moved to her new home at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in early November 2012. The public grand opening of Atlantis on permanent public display will occur in the summer of 2013, once the construction of her new $100 million exhibit is complete. Final Voyage Of the Endeavour : NASA's youngest space shuttle orbiter, Endeavour - now retired from service - readies to make her historic final journey from Kennedy Space Center in Florida to Los Angeles, California. After arriving in LA, Endeavour must maneuver a maze of city streets, signs, overpasses, street lights, and other obstacles during a 2-day journey from LAX to her new home at the California Science Center, and the City of Angels is throwing a huge parade to welcome Endeavour in October.

Space Shuttle Endeavour Ready For California : With Endeavour's transition and retirement processing now complete, the orbiter switched places with Atlantis in the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) to await her September 17 departure to Los Angeles. The move brought both shuttles "nose-to-nose" one final time. Endeavour will wait for her final flight inside the VAB, while Atlantis finishes transition and retirement processing in the Orbiter Processing Facility. NASA gave me some one-on-one time with their youngest shuttle after the move, and these images represent her final days with NASA at the Kennedy Space Center. She waits for her final journey in the same building where she prepared to launch on 25 missions, and will go on display at the California Science Center this October. SpaceX COTS-2 Launch From a Pave Hawk Helicopter With The 920th Rescue Wing : Dragon readies to fly atop a Falcon-9 rocket to become the first commercial spacecraft to dock with the International Space Station. If successful, the mission will mark a huge turning point for America's space program, making spaceflight no longer something only governments can do. I covered the historic launch with the 920th Rescue Wing from Patrick Air Force Base, flying with them in a HH60G Pave Hawk helicopter, call sign Jolly 1, while they cleared the range around the launch area of unwanted guests. GRAIL Launches To The Moon : The Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory, or GRAIL, mission is a part of NASA's Discovery Program. The Final Mission / STS-135 Atlantis : Space shuttle Atlantis thundered into the history books Friday, July 8th 2011, closing out NASA's 30-year shuttle program with the STS-135 mission. The all-veteran crew of 4 astronauts delivered critical spare parts & tons of supplies to the International Space Station & delivered an experimental robotic refueling machine, in hopes it can be used to refuel satellites in orbit. Atlantis touched down back in Florida Thursday July 21st, bringing an end to one of America's greatest era's - the space shuttle program. Atlantis will be processed as a museum piece to be put on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, with the exhibit's grand opening scheduled for 2013.
