The timing for the launch came when the moon was still hours from rising, while at the same time the Milky Way was becoming visible at it rose from the SE. With clear skies expected I decided to head north of the launch site about 15 miles, where the skies are dark enough to allow an attempt at producing this image without being ruined by light pollution from the Cape.
