Come with me onboard the U.S. NAVY's Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) for a day of shooting flight ops, as the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group (ABECSG) conducted a Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) somewhere in the Western Atlantic on January 28, 2019.

The goal of COMPTUEX is to achieve certification for deployment, assessing the strike group’s ability to conduct military operations at sea and project power ashore through joint planning and execution of challenging and realistic training scenarios. During COMPTUEX, ABECSG is evaluated on their ability to integrate all assets of the strike group into a cohesive, multi-mission fighting force, and their ability to carry out sustained combat operations at sea.

HUGE thanks to the US Navy & all those serving aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln for their generous hospitality. I was incredibly honored, humbled & impressed with their expertise, efficiency & professionalism. And thanks as well to VRC-40, the RAWHIDES, for some unforgettable flying and getting us to & from the ship safely!
