Astrophotography is an area I have wanted to explore for several years, but I've only recently started to take more seriously. The night sky, especially over very dark isolated locations - far from city lights - is a jaw-dropping sight that many, unfortunately, never get to experience. Below is a collection of my favorite night-sky work so far.

Comet Lovejoy - C/2013 R1 - on the morning of Dec. 3, 2013, as photographed through an 8-inch Mack Newt telescope from Chiefland, Florida. The comet is currently easy to spot with a pair of binoculars in the northeast a couple hours before sunrise, & barely naked-eye visible in dark skies.  Image is the product of a series of two-minute exposures over roughly 90 minutes + 4 hours of processing.
