The launch of a SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket on May 5, 2016 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida (Launch Complex 40), delivering the JCSAT-14 satellite to orbit for Japan at 1:21 a.m. EDT.

Thanks to for sharing it HERE too!

The timing for the launch came when the moon was still hours from rising, while at the same time the Milky Way was becoming visible at it rose from the SE. With clear skies expected I decided to head north of the launch site about 15 miles, where the skies are dark enough to allow an attempt at producing this image without being ruined by light pollution from the Cape.

Canon 6D / 24mm / double-exposure (1 for launch, 1 for Milky Way).
