The final launch of NASA's OV-103, space shuttle Discovery. Affectionately known as the Mother of NASA's shuttle fleet, Discovery thundered off Kennedy Space Center's pad 39A on February 24, 2011 to make one final visit to the International Space Station. The orbiter, which flew both Return to Flight missions after the Challenger and Columbia disasters, flew 39 total missions during 395 total days in space, during which time Discovery logged more than 148 MILLION miles flown.
